Train Days: Population

2/22 Pt. 2

This is my second blog for today, hooray! Goal accomplished! So as I am riding on the train I started thinking, there are so many people in Tokyo. Everywhere you go there is a crowd. Sometimes I wonder how many people’s paths I’ve crossed in just one day. Standing in the train I can count about 30 people in my car, and it’s super empty. I imagine 150 people can fit a car to its max. One train has about 10 cars. That’s 1500 people every train! And these trains come about every five minutes to every 15 minutes, depending on which line you are taking. All that sums up to, is a hell of a lot of people. However, all of these people are swallowed in their own bubble. Never interacting with the person next to them, always minding their own business. Something doesn’t feel right in my soul to have met so many people and yet to know none of them. But, I guess this is true with all big cities, even Irvine. Yet still, my soul is a little restless about this.

Anyways, this is my stop so I’ll be getting off now.

Train Days: What’s in a name

2/22 pt. 1

I live in a city close to Shonan Beach called Fujisawa. I work and study in the bustling metropolis, Tokyo. Everyday I commute to Tokyo by train and it takes me about an hour. I spend most of that time playing games, observing people on the train, or sleeping. But today, I am determined to make this time more productive and start blogging during this time. Since I commute on the train two times a day, once at the start of the day and once at the end of the day, I thought it would be an interesting contrast to reflect upon. So, in the beginning of the day I have these hopes and goals for the day and then at the end of the day I can reflect on how I was able to materialize these goals.

My first thought was, what would I call these blogs because I wanted to turn this into a series type deal. I immediately thought of the name Train Days. I like it because it kind of reminds me of a captain’s log on a boat only I would be on a train and rather than traversing the big blue ocean, I would be traversing something much scarier, life. But then I started thinking about using Train Daze because whenever you get on a train your brain sort of shuts off and you just stare off into space. i was also working with a combination of different combinations: Train Dayze, Train Daze, Train Days, Train Dayz, Train Dayse. What do you guys think?

Then I started thinking, why am I making such a fuss about the name? Why is that important? I think a name holds a lot of power. It influences us in ways we might not be able to perceive, I mean it could be said that your name is the most valuable thing you can own. It is your individuality, and it is your identity. In the case of a blog, the name can influence people’s first impressions and it also gives a direction of the content in the blog. So to me, it doesn’t feel right until I get the name right. So, I’d like to know what you guys think! My goal for today is to get two blog posts done and I have am already 50% done!

Well, this is my stop so I’ll be getting off now
